A tin ceiling really is not what
it sounds like. Made up of tin ceiling panels or tiles that have
patterns impressed on them, a tin ceiling will not not look like
tin at all. After the tin ceiling panels or tiles are painted
and installed, your ceiling can actually add to the ambiance
of your home rather than just being “neutral.”
Tin ceilings were actually made out of tin when they were first
introduced during the Victorian age so that more homes could
have ceilings that resembled the hand plastered ceilings of the
very wealthy. However, today tin ceiling tiles and panels are
made out of aluminum. This makes them lightweight and easier
to install.
There are many styles of tin ceiling panels and tiles from which
you can choose. You can give your home a Victorian feel by installing
a tin ceiling that uses panels or tiles that were derived from
original Victorian tin ceilings. If that is not to your taste,
you can install a tin ceiling that has a more contemporary feel.
You might also want to a design a ceiling that is a combination
of styles.
Why not think of your ceiling as part of the “canvas” of
the interior of your home? You can make your house unique among
all of the popcorn ceiling followers. As an added bonus, a tin
ceiling may also add to the resale value of your home.
